The education and training arm of the Tumaini Ministries Uganda, aims to provide inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. This will go a long way to support the reduction of disparities and inequities in education, both in terms of access and quality. At Tumaini we recognize the need to provide quality education and training for all, and most especially the vulnerable populations, including poor children, children living in rural areas, persons with disabilities, indigenous people and refugee children.
We believe this is of critical importance because of its transformative effects on the people and also sustainable development hinges on every individual receiving quality education. Our strategy is offering people the tools to develop to their full potential, so they become productive people ready to give back to their communities and break the cycle of poverty,
Significant progress has been achieved by government during the last decade in increasing access to education and school enrolment rates at all levels. Despite these gains, the quality of education continues to decline. There is still High illiteracy, 30%-40% school dropouts, only 60% complete school, less than half of primary children are able to read and write at national recommended standards. Poor education infrastructure, dilapidated classrooms, lack of desks, libraries and books for quality learning, high teacher pupil ratio, poor teacher motivation, lack of school meals for teachers and pupils, early marriages/pregnancies and poor management of schools.
Tumaini ministries will look to cover the gap by establishment of vocational institutions on top of formal education systems for skilling the individuals affected by some of the above factors. This to us will help achieve our Mission.
