Hope
Behind Bars
Tumaini Ministries Uganda (TMU) is committed to bringing the love, hope, and healing power of Jesus Christ to every corner of society—including behind prison walls. Our Prison Ministry Outreach reaches incarcerated individuals with the life-changing message of the gospel, offering spiritual, emotional, and practical support to help them experience transformation and dignity in the midst of confinement.
We believe that no one is beyond redemption. Through the gospel, discipleship, and empowerment, we walk alongside inmates and prison staff in a journey of renewal, rehabilitation, and reintegration.
Our Approach
Our prison ministry is grounded in compassion, dignity, and transformation. We work closely with Uganda’s prison authorities, chaplaincy units, and community networks to ensure a holistic impact. Our activities include:
Spiritual Engagement: Weekly prayer and worship sessions, Bible distribution, and gospel teaching.
Counseling & Mentorship: Individual and group therapy, trauma healing, and post-release mentorship programs.
Skills Development: Hands-on vocational training and business start-up education for inmates.
Family Support: Assistance for families of inmates through food, school support for children, and spiritual counseling.
Advocacy & Reintegration: Promoting prisoner rights, reintegration planning, and coordination with community churches to welcome returning citizens.
